Very Fine Antique English Silver Plate Flagon/Beer Jug - c. 1850 | Richard Hood

.The exquisite beer jug/flagon is antique English silver plated with very elaborate decoration of hand chased inverted spiral flutes, abercorn and stipple bands and straight inverted fluting on both the top and bottom.  The jug stands on a stepped rim foot and has a leaf double scroll handle with ivory insulators.  The hinged lid has a cast leaf thumbpiece and a matching hand chased domed lid.  The cast bold spout is  of a leaf and stylized shell design.
